Hassandoust began his professional journey in 1985 with ‘The City of Mice’, co-directed by Marzieh Boroumand and Ali Talebi.

His major breakthrough came in 1996 with ‘Children of Heaven’, directed by Majid Majidi. The film's international success helped solidify Hassandoust's position in the Iranian film industry.

While primarily known as an editor, Hassandoust has also worked in other roles, including sound editing and assistant directing.

His contributions to sound editing are evident in films such as ‘Thieves Don’t Go to Heaven’, ‘Hezardastan’, and ‘The Tenants’. Additionally, he worked as an assistant director on ‘The City of Mice’.

Hassandoust's work has been frequently recognized at Iran's Fajr International Film Festival. Notably, he won the Crystal Simorgh for Best Editing for ‘Hamoun’ (1989), ‘Children of Heaven’ (1996), and ‘The Song of Sparrows’ (2008).

He has also been nominated multiple times for his work on films such as ‘Father’ (1995), ‘Baran’ (2000), and ‘Farari’ (2016).

Continuing to be active in the industry, Hassandoust's recent projects include films like ‘The Sun’ (2020) and ‘Parviz Khan’ (2023). His dedication to his craft has made him an influential figure in Iranian cinema, inspiring a new generation of editors.
